The send-off for our military members heading to Afghanistan for their training mission was a great success last night.

A great crowd congregated at the club to show their support and thank Alastair Klima, Jamie Young, Doug Hall, and (just back in town) Jeff Kalbhenn.  The club made a presentation of some limited edition t-shirts made specifically so the boys could represent while remaining inconspicuous in the Afghan sand.

The boys will be missed while they are gone - In the time that Alastair has been here he has become an integral part of the club and has been our first ever club liaison to CFB Gagetown as we continue to strenghthen our ties to the base and provide a sporting outlet for service men and and women stationed at Gagetown. Jamie, since joining us in the dome last year, has been a fixture at the club. Doug only joined us in the fall and Jeff is only back in town prior to deployment but we expect to see more of both of them upon their return. All of them, in whatever time they have been here, have been exemplary club members. Dues paid within their first couple of practices and always willing to help when help was needed.  Thanks to everyone who made it out last night, I know the boys appreciated it.

Finally fellas, on behalf of the club, thank you and stay safe over there.

I'll let a Maritime music legend have the final say:
