The Club enjoyed another great trip to Montreal for Labour Day weekend and the Montreal Irish Des O'Neil Invitational Tournament. This trip was planned as a club building exercise in rugby touring and for the second year in a row we were entered in the Social Division only to be told on the Saturday at game time that there was, in fact, no social division. With heavy heads the boys took the field Saturday morning to take on teams taking things infinitely more seriously than we had planned to.  Our pride took over, though, and we represented the club properly.  There we numerous impressive performances from the boys under these trying circumstances, not the least of which was flanker Scott 'Chats' Agnew's front row debut in which he played every minute of every game. The men finished the tournament with a 2-3 record the last loss coming in the consolation final vs the West Patomac Rugby Club from Washington DC.

Meanwhile, our ladies, who had teamed up with the girls of the Truro Saints also had a successful weekend posting the same record as the guys while helping us 'win the party' while not losing all of our games.

Indeed, for the second year in a row, that line is not a throwaway - we actually won the party and were awarded the prize for Best Social Club for our good time nature - we even have the plaque to prove it.

We made some great new friends (Tour MVP - Timmy - from MTL) and saw lots of the ones we made last year. We are hopeful that the Irish will pay us a return visit to Fredericton sometime soon but are certainly looking forward to heading back to Montreal next Labour Day for what is becoming an annual event.
