Week 2 Recap :
The gym doors were open, lights turned on and atmosphere that would rival an all you can eat buffet at Pizza Delight also known as deliciousness the SJ Penquins would step on the floor against the Burt’s All-stars. The quack of the Penguins would start early with some good ball movement and running lines with Richard “The Dude” Naves opening the scoring. The Penguins kept quacking with Jack “Frightening” Skerry scoring scoring 3 tries. Chris “Don’t Call Me Ernie” Burt would lead his team with 2 tries however the sexiness of the Penguins was too much for the Allstars coming up on top 6-4.
Next up the Cavendish Clan, PEI Potato Pickers would take on the ever increasing weight and stature of the Baby Elephants. This would prove to be a tight defensive game probably due to the fact the Baby Elephants take up a lot of space. Kevin “Speed Demon” McQuade would lead his team with 2 tries on the night with Patty “G-Money” Grant and Jon “Jockey” Parkman scoring one each. Newly recruited Dylan “Dial-on” Marche would score the lone try for the boys in XXL shirts. The final score 4 potatoes to 1 cheeseburger.
Following the first two games it was the ladies time to shine, The Grey Bush of UNB vs STU. The Grey Bush showed their age and experience against the young STU team with Emily “Gumbo” Corey scoring 3 times for UNB. Lindsay “Okitoks” Oakes would pop two in. STU would see help from Marissa “Wacky Legs” Walcott scoring 2. STU would come up short falling 8-4 to UNB.
The UNB Young Guns took on the Cunning Stunts. In what was a great back and forth match all game with good speed, Kim “Mrs D” Diamond would open the scoring for the Stunners. However, UNB would reply with a great run by Kristy “The Better MacQuarrie” MacQuarrie. The SCs would start to take control with 2 unanswered tries. However, the youthful exuberance of the Young Guns would see them pop in two tries at the end to tie up the game 3-3.
Next up the powerful and ever graceful Lanky Locks would take on the Free Agents in a back and forth affair. Brennan “Brandon” Foley would find some surprising quickness for a prop finding holes in the defense like he does in his donuts going for a long run to score. Zack “Durrrrrr Face” Fitch would be all over and smelling up the court with his shoes he doesn’t wear socks in setting up and popping in tries. Troy “Aussie Master Carpenter” Shears made a comeback in the biggest sense scoring 2 tries for the Free Agents. However, the shear power and might of the Lanky Locks proved too much with them coming out on top 7-6.
The last game of the night would seen the Kowalski Killers take on the love handles aka Has Beens. With most players on the Kowalski Killers being alive for as much as most of the Has Beens have been playing rugby the experience really showed. However, the Kowalski Killers showed marked improvement from last week with Ceasar “All Hail Him” Morales scoring their first try. Adam “Back from the Dead” Anderson would make an impact with 3 tries and Mat “The Best Looking Vodka Lounge Employee Ever” Trevors popping in 3 as well for the well mid-section rounded people. The Kowalski Killers would end of losing 11-3 but the improvement was there.
