A hearty congratulations to long time Loyalist George Bidlake who was one of this year's recipents of the Martha J. Harvey Award of Distinction. George was recognized, along with fellow recipent Bob Dallison, for his contributions and longtime commitment to Central New Brunwick history. 

This should come as no surprise to Loyalists as George has been one of the club's foremost unofficial historians since he started playing in 1963. I say one of because most of us are amateur club historians and our oral history is a strong one - the difference with George, of course, is that he takes the time to put it on record.

In case you're interested, and in keeping with the theme, the Martha J. Harvey Award is named after the one time proprietor of Harvey's Studio and founder of the York Sunbury Historical Society (1932).  The award is "presented for outstanding contribution in the field of New Brunswick History, more particularly for its significance and applicability to central New Brunswick and/or for long and meritorious service or contribution to the Society".

George is very deserving of this recognition and I doubt they even factored in the work he has done at the club. I will remind you that George has been the club secretary for the last number of years and his meticulous taking of the minutes has ensured that the inner workings of the club are on record to prove just how much (if sometimes also how slowly) things get done at the club.  It is invaluable and we are pleased to join the Society in praising his contribution to both the club and the community as a whole.
