This Week at the Club
Hi folks,
it's been such a busy week filled with such exciting stories that I thought it best to go back to a trusted old format to recap it all.
It's been a busy week at the clubhouse with practice in full swing and an election thrown in there for good measure (the club was a polling station) but the big news was coming in from around the world.
To begin with, over the weekend, 3 Loyalists, Chris Aaen, Rob Johns, and Brian Jones, saw months of tedious preparation come…

Loyalist AGM 2012 - Thursday April 5th, 7pm
The AGM is the key club wide meeting that helps to determine the direction the club will take in the year to come. There is, as always, much to discuss. And there is, as always, much to do to keep the club running as smoothly as it has. I would urge all members, of all ages, to come out and attend the meeting to get an idea of exactly what goes into making Loyalists RFC one of the most successful clubs in the country.
I would also urge all club members to consider putting…

UNB 7s Recap
The coffees were in hands like something out of a Tim’s commercial at the arena, however in this case it was the UNB dome and the sport was 7s rugby. The all day tournament saw a total of 14 mens teams and 6 ladies teams take to the pitch in the first annual UNB Dome 7s. The Loyalists had 3 official teams under the name plus The Capital team comprised of Loyalist club members who work at the bar.
The Capital was the first team to play although they were a bit tired from…

Week 5: Recap and Results
The Bay City Rollers could be heard just dimly in everybody’s minds so that could only have meant one thing it was Saturday night and the fifth week of the Fredericton Indoor Touch League was about to commence.
The Suited Spheniscidae would be double playing two different teams this week because the majority of them are off to the Las Vegas 7s to represent NB in the club side of the international tournament. Good luck quackers and always bet on black!. The first game of the…

Fredericton Indoor Touch League: Week 4: Match Report/Recap
A famous person once said ‘rugby is a good occasion for keeping 15 bullies from the centre of the city’ and that is what occurred this past Saturday for 3 hours and 60 odd people. Fredericton was still recovering from the 80 person rugby pub crawl on Friday evening and touch would provide the city with a little bit of relief, like FEMA in New Orleans, from the rugger hoard.
The Port City Penguins in their traditional dress of t-shirt tuxedos were looking rebound from last…

Stay Safe Soldier
The send-off for our military members heading to Afghanistan for their training mission was a great success last night.
A great crowd congregated at the club to show their support and thank Alastair Klima, Jamie Young, Doug Hall, and (just back in town) Jeff Kalbhenn. The club made a presentation of some limited edition t-shirts made specifically so the boys could represent while remaining inconspicuous in the Afghan sand. …

Week 3: Match Report/Recap
Due to unforeseen circumstances the ladies and lads were moved to the brand new Currie Centre for what would be week 3 of the Fredericton touch league. People were nervous and apprehensive about having to change from their familiar surroundings known as the LB Gym for someone new and DQ different. The blizzard which is known as the touch league descended upon unsuspecting and curious gym goers not knowing if a brawl was going to break out or if the insane asylum was out on a field…

Fredericton Indoor Touch League Week 2: Recap
Week 2 Recap :
The gym doors were open, lights turned on and atmosphere that would rival an all you can eat buffet at Pizza Delight also known as deliciousness the SJ Penquins would step on the floor against the Burt’s All-stars. The quack of the Penguins would start early with some good ball movement and running lines with Richard “The Dude” Naves opening the scoring. The Penguins kept quacking with Jack “Frightening” Skerry scoring scoring 3 tries. Chris “Don’t Call Me…
